As a Senior Electrical Designer at O’M Engineering, you will work under the direction of senior members of the O’M Engineering team.  You will be responsible to lead/conduct electrical designs, perform electrical calculations, system/building evaluations, reports, client liaison, specification writing, site review work. You will be expected to be responsible for a variety of projects both in size and complexity.

As Senior Electrical Designer, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior staff and manage projects while overseeing the work of one or more electrical designers.

We will be asking that you also participate in developing company policies. This would include developing design standards, project management development and quality control procedures. As you grow in the company marketing may also be required. In addition to the above duties we anticipate you will become proficient in all of our simulation software that is used in our firm. These will include AutoCAD, Revit, AGI, Dialux, Solar Edge, SKM, Acoustic Modelling and such new programs that may be included in our growth

Additional Responsibilities will include:

• Coordination with contractors, architects, and engineers to produce project requirements and designs;

• Consulting with other suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications;

• Evaluate supplier’s proposals and deliverable documentation;

• Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g. drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices;

• Conduct site investigations to obtain an understanding of existing conditions, site constraints, and other challenges;

• Assist the project management team with the preparation of electrical reports;

• Preparation of specifications for electrical equipment;

Qualifications for this position are:

• University Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;

• Minimum of 4 to 6 years of local experience in building design and construction;

• P.Eng. or ability to be registered with EGBC;

• Strong communications skills to liaison with clients and other disciplines (Architect, Mechanical, etc);

• Ability work within a team environment;

• Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;

• Knowledge and experience with above mentioned software’s;

• Experience in building engineering and electrical systems associated with buildings;

• Knowledge of industry specific codes and standards (CEC, BCBC, VBBL, NECB, ASHRAE, etc);

• Must have a valid BC’s Driver’s License.
